The city hall has several big and small stories around it's WW2 lifetime, still visible are the bullet holes. The original carillon were stolen by the Nazi's and never to be seen back, and the agriculture in the surroundings during the severe hunger. Also indoor, with several plaques, medals and gifted stained glass by WW1 Belgian refugees. Several speculations to why the city hall remained, however considering it was a fairly modern building, and bomb droppers could not aim that specifically.
